Justin Saxton was born in Greensboro, NC, and raised in Charlotte, NC. He is a graduate of North Mecklenburg Highschool where he was a member of ROTC and played both the Junior Varsity and the Varsity football teams. While in high school, Justin noticed that he attended school with several students who came into contact with the court system.
While the majority of these students were involved with the Juvenile or Criminal court system, a number were also involved with Family Court and Civil Court. Seeing his peers caught up in the court system, Justin’s interest in the court system and the legal field grew.
He participated in the Young Explorers Program where he learned about the inner workings of the criminal justice system and the legal profession. Because of the intimate view of the criminal justice system that this program gave him, Justin decided this was the field he wanted to work in.
Justin is a recent graduate of Hampton University where he majored in Criminal Justice. Throughout his time at Hampton University, Justin was a member of the Criminal Justice Club and the North Carolina Pre-Alumni Council. While in these clubs, Justin participated in several forums discussing current criminal justice issues. He dedicated countless hours to volunteering at food drives and road cleanups.
After his second year in college, but before the Coronavirus pandemic, he interned with Court Camp, a program to teach youth about the criminal justice system. During his third year of college, the Coronavirus pandemic hit. Justin had to return home to Charlotte and continue his education through virtual learning.
While disappointed that he was unable to continue the true college experience, he decided to take advantage of his new free time in Charlotte. Justin interned at a civil law firm where he gained perspective and insight into a different type of law. Although he enjoyed his experience at a civil firm, Justin realized that his true passion was still helping youth involved in the justice system.
In pursuit of his strong interest in juvenile law, Justin has since become a legal intern here at Kimberly Saxton & Associates, PLLC. Now he is a student at the Cleveland-Marshall School of Law in Cleveland, Ohio.
When Justin is not in class, volunteering, or here in the office, he enjoys spending time with friends and family. He enjoys hiking with his dogs, playing video games, and watching sports.
